PROTOGEN granules

For effortless feeding of fish fry with live infusoria (infusion animals) such as ciliates, paramecia, slipper, eye, ciliated and trumpet animals. Protogen is a concentrate of dried infusoria of various sizes cultivated on a culture medium, which, in combination with aquarium water and the culture medium contained in Protogen, come to life and develop further in a very short time. Infusoria are non-aggressive and do not attack the fry. Infusoria from Protogen do not need to be fed, but a new batch should be made every 3 - 4 days. The best way to recognize the presence of infusoria when feeding the brood is when they collect around the dripping point. Visually, the infusoria can only be seen at a magnification of 25 - 50x if the preparation is correct. If there is too much protogen you can see the presence of infusoria by the formation of a creamy skin on the 3rd day. If there is chlorine or drug residue in the preparation water, no infusoria can form.

Application:

a) Direct application: After hatching of the fry, add 6 - 12 grains of Protogen to the tank depending on the number of fry, double the amount on the 2nd day. Continue feeding as required until larger food is accepted.

b) Pre-culture: Place approx. 1 g Protogen with 1 l aquarium water in small shallow glass or plastic dishes at 18 - 25 °C and good lighting. The cultures are ready for use within 24 hours and multiply rapidly if left to stand for a long time. Use a pipette to add the infusoria solution close to the fry.

Important: Place the pre-culture or protogene grains where the fry are. Do not use metal containers for protogen cultures.
